Dave Aberth

Dave has been involved with music for nearly 50 years.  He started playing violin and singing at the age of 10 and piano at the age of 12.  He participated in choirs throughout his school career and into his collegiate years.  Dave started his undergraduate studies as a performance major in piano, then switched to education.  He participated in several ensembles, operas, solo work and music directing through his undergraduate years and into the start of his professional career.  He began teaching in 1988 and continued to perform in the northeast Ohio area. He received his Master’s degree in 1998. In 2009 Dave switched careers from teaching to firefighting/paramedic and is currently a Lieutenant for the Macedonia Fire Department.  Though he isn’t performing as much today, Dave still enjoys to occasionally get back on stage.  He keeps his music skills sharp as a Music Coordinator for First Congregational Church of Akron, where he has been singing and playing for the past 37 years. He plans to get back into singing and performing once he retires.  Dave was born and raised in Akron, moving back into the area a few years ago.
