Kristen Carlin

Kristen learned that her choice instrument would be trumpet in 5th grade and that began her history with various musical organizations. Growing up in Parma Schools, Kristen was a student of Dr. Laycock as a Valley Forge Band and Orchestra member, and as a player in the Baldwin Wallace Youth Orchestra. She was also an All-Ohio State Fair Band participant, and Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus member in high school.

Her journey to Ohio University led her to join the Marching 110 University Band and to sing in the University Singers Choral organization. While there, she earned her degree in Elementary Education with a minor in music. She is currently a middle school math teacher in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. After returning from college, she joined the Parma Symphony Orchestra and has been a member with her mother Vicky, who plays violin, ever since.

She has a very supportive husband and two wonderful boys, Zachary (11) and Riley (8) who have attended every concert since they were born, and hopes to pass on her love of music performance to them.
