Susan Johnson

Susan Johnson joined the Parma Symphony Orchestra in 2017. She played the violin in 4th through 6th grade in the Cleveland Public Schools and later quit playing to pursue her academic math and science studies while singing in choral groups throughout high school. She earned a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and M.S. in Engineering Science. She was an Aerospace Engineering Project Manager at NASA Glenn Research Center, retiring in 2021. She currently works part time as a project manager at the Ohio Aerospace Institute.

Susan and her husband, Eric, have a daughter who played the viola and flute since 5th grade. When their daughter went to Cincinnati’s Conservatory of Music with her flute, Susan decided to learn to play the viola she left behind. She enrolled in the Baldwin Wallace New Horizons Orchestra program and signed up for weekly private viola lessons. In Susan’s spare time, she and her husband travel extensively around the world, and visit their daughter, son-in-law (he has a master’s degree from Julliard and a professional countertenor singer), and granddaughter. Grandchild #2 is due July 2025.
